What is the original structure of Skyrim's bsa files? [on hold]
I'm looking to (re)pack my data folder's contents into BSA files. Its a
non-steam copy, the data folder is completely loose and I am not in a
position to reinstall the game atm. My data folder has the following
folders grass, interface, lodsettings, meshes, music, shadersfx, textures,
scripts, seq, sound, strings, video. What I'd like to know is in which
BSAs do each of these directories go. For example I know shadersfx will go
into Skyrim - Shaders.bsa. I also think Skyrim - Animations.bsa should
have some files from the meshes directory.
I was under the impression that skyrim doesn't care about which folder
goes into which BSA as long as the original structure of the data folder
is maintained, and to test this I renamed Skyrim - Textures.bsa (which I
created using BSAopt, and then removed the textures folder from the data
folder) to Skyrim - Misc.bsa and the textures were loaded just fine.
However it doesn't seem to be the case as I'm now getting random ctds,
after placing my folders randomly into any of the 9 original BSA files in
the vanilla skyrim installation. I could just leave the files loose but
this is bad for modding. Could you please go through your BSA files and
list the structure of each so that I can rebuild the BSA files properly?
BSAopt might come in handy, just open a .bsa, enlarge the bsaopt window
and take a screenshot.
